German wine - wine basics

Spätlese

Spätlese ("Spatlese") literally means late harvest; made from riper grapes that usually have been picked at a later stage in the harvest. Spätlese wines are more intense in flavor and concentration, but not necessarily sweet. Good with richer, more flavorful foods, or by themselves.

Alcohol should be consumed in moderation, abuse may damage your health. The consumption of alcoholic drinks during pregnancy, even in small amounts, can have severe consequences to the health of your child.
